Bamboo palm
The woodlands in central and north-east Mexico, where it grows in damp undergrowth between 800 and 1500 m high.
-8ºC (17°F)
A gorgeous multi-stemmed palm, quite small (3 m tall) with pinnate leaves, with the appearance of a bamboo. Its small round red fruit stands out against the foliage: a very decorative palm.
Place it in partial shade or full shade, under some taller trees, in a well-drained, rich and humus-bearing soil. Water it regularly in summer.
It is also an excellent palm for indoors: it can withstand poor light and a dry atmosphere.
